A trifecta of the best films on DIRECTV
Today’s Number One Film:
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly, 3pm The DIRECTV Channel. BEST FILM OF THE DAY. Watch this if you liked The Wild Bunch, The Proposition or No Country for Old Men. Spaghetti Westerns are to many a serious film buff what one-day cricket is to the Test aficionado: a lot of fun, perhaps, but too flawed to take seriously.
A Trifecta of Today’s Best Films on the Box
Two strong, infrequently-aired documentaries lead but, if BC on TV
could be sure of English subtitles, two foreign films on Fox Cinema
(White God [Hungary, Indy thriller], 7pm, Phoenix [German, Holocaust],
10.45pm) would have gone in at #2 and #3 respectively and the superb
Palestinian thriller Omar (9am MaxP) at #1. An exceptional day for
wide-ranging film choice almost makes it not worth mentioning the
Walking Dead marathon on AMC (starting predawn) or the good Star Wars
films before VII, i.e., IV (6.17am), V (8.35am) & VI (10.59am) on
Space. The DirecTV channel also serves up a couple of aces for indy (The
Killers 2pm) and heavy rock (Soundgarden, 3pm) lovers.
